"That tom can be a bloody wanker, I know. He was giving you a hard time on purpose. It's been ages since an apprentice was assigned to tick duty as a punishment. Just ignore him."
— Mottlestorm to Redpaw about Ratwhisker

Mother of Shadowfern and grandmother to Redclaw.

Personality[]

Gruff, but friendly, relaxed elder who uses the term "bloody" a lot. Was interested in clan politics as a young warrior and was known as a master strategist.

Frequently uses wit and tact to deal with even the most uncooperative of individuals. In her old age, she enjoys telling stories.

Synopsis[]

Forest of Mist[]

Mottlestorm is the first to have her ticks down when Redpaw is assigned to clean them. She tells Redpaw the other apprentice neglect to clean thoroughly. Mottlestorm tells Redpaw that she better clean Ratwhisker before her ears bleed from hearing him whine.

Mottlestorm defends her granddaughter against Ratwhisker's insults and follows the apprentice out of the elders' den, advising her to lick bark to get rid of the taste of mouse bile.

Mottlestorm explains that Ratwhisker was giving her a hard time on purpose because an apprentice hadn't been assigned to tick duty in ages and that Redpaw should ignore him. She then tells Redpaw denying Cloudstar was daring and reminds he that she needs to finish the other elders' ticks. The two re-enter the den.

Shortly after, Mottlestorm begins to tell the story of DarkClan and how it was defeated, along with interruptions by Echoheart, Fallowflower, and Bumbletongue.

She is later seen sharing tongues with Echoheart while Wolfpaw is trying to feed Ratwhisker herbs.
